FALL BALL 2009

 2009 IGSA Fall Ball Information

Thank you for your interest in IGSA's 2009 Fall Ball season. Please read all of the information below carefully.

This year, we are pleased to offer two separate programs for Fall Ball, Fall Recreational and Fall Select.

Recreational Fall Ball is a continuation of the Spring recreational softball season which focuses on improving player fundamentals and team skills.  This season is approximately 10 weeks long, with practices starting in late August and games starting in September.  Teams typically play one game per week on Sunday afternoons, and the league includes teams from Aliso Viejo, Mission Viejo, Capo Valley, Laguna Niguel and Rancho Trabuco.  Teams participate in the 8U, 10U and 12U divisions.  IGSA is emphasizing this program to help our players develop their skills in preparation for the 2010 Spring season.  Many players who are moving up to a new age division for the Spring 2010 season use the Recreational Fall Ball league as a chance to “play up” and experience the level and rules they will encounter during the 2010 Spring season.  We hope to place all players interested in participating in this program on a team, but the number of teams will be dependent upon the number of volunteers willing to coach.  The registration fee for this program will be approximately $100 (including a uniform).

Select Fall Ball is a more competitive and time-intensive program and requires a strong commitment from all players.  Please note that this program is coach select, and it is possible that not all players interested in participating will be placed on a team. Selected players will play either on an A or a B team. A and B teams are determined by the number returning Gold and Silver all stars on a team.

Traditionally, the Select Fall Ball season consists of two (2) game doubleheaders that will be played on the weekends between the Kickoff tournament (which takes place in early September) and the Turkey Tournament (which takes place just before Thanksgiving) - SEE SCHEDULE BELOW. These games may be day or night games and may be played on Saturday or Sunday depending upon field availability.  Teams participate in the 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U divisions.  To be eligible for Select Fall Ball, players must have played a minimum of 50% of the current season games from the Rec league they will represent in the fall (this applies to the 8U, 10U and 12U divisions). The exception to the “50% rule” will be an injury that prevented the player from playing during the regular season, i.e. broken arm, leg, etc.Fall Select teams will start practicing in mid to late August.  The registration fee for this program will be approximately $175 (including a uniform).

REGISTRATION If your daughter is interested in playing or you are interested in coaching, please email us at (igsa@cox.net)  to place your name(s) on the interest list.  Put Fall Ball in the subject line along with your player’s name.  Your email must be received no later than Friday, July 10, 2009, and should include your child's name, date of birth and which age division she played in during this past Spring Rec Season, as well as which age division she would prefer to play in during Fall Ball.  PLEASE INDICATE WHETHER YOUR DAUGHTER IS INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING IN THE FALL RECREATIONAL, FALL SELECT, OR EITHER PROGRAM.

The team selection process will begin at the beginning of August. Once teams are formed, coaches will collect registration fees from their teams.
